Finding out changes everything

Discovering an affair, a secret or another breach of trust can leave both partners reeling. You may feel anger, grief, doubt and numbness, sometimes within the same hour.

Whether you are the partner who was hurt, the partner who broke trust, or you are not sure whether you want to stay, you deserve a steady place to sort it out. You do not have to decide anything on the first day.

How we approach betrayal and recovery

Dr. Mallorie Sorce, our founder, is a certified EFT therapist and clinical sexologist whose specialties include infidelity recovery. Emotionally Focused Therapy helps couples slow down the cycle that followed the discovery, make room for the hurt partner's pain and the other partner's accountability, and decide together what repair could look like.

Recovery looks different for every couple. For some, therapy rebuilds trust and closeness. For others, it helps both partners understand what happened and decide, with more clarity, what comes next. We cannot promise an outcome, but we can offer a steady, compassionate place to work through it.

What we can help with

  • Recovery after an affair, emotional or physical
  • Rebuilding trust and honest communication
  • Understanding what led to the betrayal, without excusing it
  • Sexual and intimate connection after a breach of trust
  • Compulsive or out-of-control sexual behavior (OCSB) and its effect on a relationship
  • Individual support if you are working through this on your own

Individual or couples sessions

You can begin with an individual session or come as a couple. If one of you is not ready, starting alone is a reasonable first step. Many people begin with our free 20-minute consultation to talk through what would help most.

Infidelity recovery questions

Can a relationship recover from an affair?

Many couples do rebuild trust, and some decide to part ways with more clarity. We cannot promise an outcome, but we can offer a structured, compassionate place to work through it.

Do we both need to attend?

You can start either way. Couples sessions work best when both partners attend, and if one of you is not ready, an individual session is a reasonable first step.

How soon after discovering an affair should we start therapy?

There is no required timeline. Some people reach out within days and others wait months. If you are overwhelmed or struggling to function, it is reasonable to call sooner. Our free 20-minute consultation is a good way to talk through whether now is the right time. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988.

Is what I tell my therapist confidential?

Therapy is confidential, with the limited exceptions required by law. Your therapist will explain how confidentiality works at your first session.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. We offer telehealth anywhere in Utah, as well as in-person sessions at our Murray office.

What does it cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes and range from $100 to $200 depending on the therapist. We are a private pay practice, accept HSA and FSA cards, and provide a monthly superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. See private pay details.
